Romualdas Rakauskas (Lithuania)

Romualdas Rakauskas was born in Akmene, Lithuania. Entered Vilnius University to study Lithuanian language and literature in 1959, later transferred to study journalism. Worked as photographer for weekly publication “Literature and Art” from 1961 to 1964. Member of the Lithuanian Journalist Union from 1964 to 1991. Head of illustrations department and photo editor of the magazine “Nemunas”. Member of founding organizational committee of the Association of Lithuanian Art Photographers from 1969 to 1974. Member of the Union of Lithuanian Art Photographers since 1970. Awarded the title of art photographer (AFIAP) by the federation of International Art Photographers (FIAP) in 1976. Distinguished as Honorary journalist of the Republic in 1980. Recipient of the art award of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania in 2004. Awarded the Order of the Lithuania Grand Duke Gediminas of the 5th class in 2004.  Awarded the title of the most memorable Kaunas artist 0f 2006 for his exhibition “Lee” and “Accords”. Recipient of the Gold Star of LATGA-A (Agency of Lithuanian Copyright Protection Association) as Author of the Year in the nomination of the most popular artist (art photographer) in 2006. Participated in more than 150 exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad.
